Sign our two-year-old is a child of the Digital Age…We were taking a walk today and encountered a smashed bug on the sidewalk.
Dimitri: Look, that bug is smashed.
Me: Yes, looks like it’s dead.
Dimitri: It needs to be charged like Mommy and Daddy’s iPad.
Hahaha
Cranky Dimitri
Me: I’m sorry you’re upset. I love you, Dimitri.
Dimitri: (folds arms and pouts) I love you next time, Mommy.
Exchange from the back seat
Vivienne: Wa wa la la la
Dimitri: I love you too, baby sister.
Melt my heart!
Dimitri and the Dinosaurs
Dimitri’s latest obsession is DINOSAURS. He has two dinosaur shirts — a short-sleeved one and a long-sleeved one — and he asks to wear one every day. I’ve tried to tell him that all his other shirts in the closet are getting sad that he doesn’t want to wear them anymore, but he is resolute about wearing the dinosaurs and won’t be swayed.
He also likes to...
Girl on the move
Vivienne has gotten to that stage where she wants desperately to keep up with her brother physically. Due to feeding issues, poor Vivi has had to spend much of her life in a slightly upright, stationary position — first, because it takes a very long time to complete a feeding (an hour and a half or more), and, also, to keep her acid reflux in check so she doesn’t lose everything she...
Mr. Protective
Me to Vivienne: You’re so cute I want to eat you up! Dimitri: No, Mommy! Please don’t eat baby sister!!
6 months old
In just a couple of days, Vivi will be 7 months old! Better get these 6 month pictures up before then. At 6 months, she loves grabbing everything, playing with her feet, chewing on her fingers, sticking out her tongue, and putting everything in her mouth. I think this photo series accurately depicts all those events. :)
Perhaps not represented in the pictures: She has one tooth and likes to...

Vivi was having a ball tonight and being such a ham tonight - love her expressions here!
Love how much these guys love each other!
Booth, while fixing breakfast: Hold on, son. I can only do one or two things at a time.
Dimitri: Well, you need to do nine.
Our two-year-old is already kind of a smart aleck.
Yesterday was Vivi’s first time riding shotgun in the shopping cart. My plan was just to carry her in the store and when Booth suggested putting her in the cart, I hesitated and said she is still way too little. But she’s growing up fast and not as little as I think!!
Dimitri and Vivienne loved riding up front together and were a cute little team. He said, “I want to pet baby sister” and...
Where is Sparky?
This week I had a special morning with Dimitri. We met some friends at the local fire station for a tour. Dimitri LOVES firetrucks so this was a big treat. When we first got there, the Fire Chief gave us an introduction about his job and the firemen answered questions. Then they showed us their tools and explained what they use them for. Dimitri was fairly interested in all of this, but what...
The Meat Industry Now Consumes Four-Fifths of All... →
Yuck! Lately I’ve been feeling more and more drawn toward becoming a vegetarian. It is revolting to think of all the antibiotics and hormones the meat industry pumps into animals, and I get upset thinking about the inhumane treatment most animals endure before they are slaughtered. One time I met a boy from the Midwest who used to work at Tyson, and he told me some things about what he...
Vivi likes to use all 5 senses when she reads the paper…especially taste, touch, and hearing. It’s so wonderfully crinkly!
First Solids
It is hard to believe it is already February. That means Vivienne’s first palate surgery — when she gets a palatal prosthetic and they perform an adhesion to begin stretching out the palatal tissue — is only 3 months away. We are hopeful that her oral feedings will significantly improve after she has healed from her surgery. Post-surgery, she will have a prosthetic palate in...

The babies this morning. Dimitri really wanted me to know that he was resting his foot against Vivienne’s head.
