We did it!
Indecisive old me ordered a crib, changing table, and crib bedding. It’s amazing how much better I feel just adding items to the shopping cart.
Today we attack the closets.
Ode to a kick-ass sister
I am almost 29 weeks along now, and I have been stressing out a bit. March 18th is Match Day, when we find out where we’ll be for the next five years (and where we’ll potentially be moving in May, the same month that Baby Boy is set to arrive). There’s a good chance we’ll stay in Houston and not have to move in May, but we still wanted to wait to put together the nursery until we know for...
This is what we did yesterday. A “Life With Baby” class. We fed, bathed, changed, and swaddled our babies. Booth didn’t believe I knew how to change a diaper, but I surprised him with my lightning speed. He already is a master swaddler from his time in the pediatric nursery, so I have a feeling he may often be tasked with wrapping our child into a happy burrito roll.
To...
Tilapia and shrimp we bought for our dinner party: $22
Bottle of Chilean sauvignon blanc: $13.62
The looks I got while shopping in the liquor store when 7 months pregnant: Priceless
Kristen power →
One of the reasons I love the Bachelor is because, after I watch the episode, I can read Kristen Baldwin’s hilarious recaps. She’s one of those Kristins (or Kristens) I gladly share a name with.
Birthday/Valentine's weekend recap
It was awesome.
I got homemade lobsters and tilapia and chocolate covered strawberries.
I got a rad new Nikon camera (actually, two new Nikon cameras. Booth had to take the first one back because it had no view finder and I can’t wink.)
I soaked up information in my birthing class. I learned that my anatomy knowledge is a little limited. I thought the bladder was a female...
Bowl me over
I have been a little remiss about blogging. I have a lot of catching up to do!
First things first, our Super Bowl party was a smashing success. I displayed my little-expressed culinary side by whipping up my grandmother’s amazing pecan pralines, my mom’s delicious seven-layer bean dip, and Duncan Hines’s famous brownies. The pecan pralines required ten minutes of brisk stirring, but I called...
a feeling of slight dread
Between our Super Bowl party, Super Bowl leftovers, my birthday feast extravaganza, and Valentine’s Day goodies mixed with more Super Bowl leftovers, I’m a little apprehensive about getting weighed at the doctor tomorrow. This should be interesting.
Now that I’m going to be a momma, I think back with fondness to my own mom.
As a little girl, I always felt safe and loved. Apparently, I was not fond of over-stimulation as I baby (I’m still not!), and although I obviously don’t remember my baby years, I do associate them with a feeling of calm and serenity. I remember my mom’s thrilled excitement the first time I read...
Guess who finally got comments? My sister will be so proud.
26 weeks. Almost 7 months pregnant!
This has been a tough week.
The week started with Buckley’s eye emergency, which had us worried and for which I decided to miss an important doctor’s appointment with a doctor who’s impossible to see. I’ve had a migraine for 4+ days and miss my trusty Imitrex, which I’ve had to shelve during the pregnancy. I took my first...
okay, one of my friends told me about the website BabyNameWizard last weekend, and it is totally tripping me out. You enter a name you like, and one of its features is to tell you what parents who have named their kid “X” have named X’s siblings. They list about 15 boy and girl “sibling” names associated with each name. And wouldn’t you know that my top boy...
my poor baby
When I was feeding Buckley this morning, I noticed he was squinting and his right eye had lots of discharge. Booth examined him and said his pupil was constricted and not properly dilating. We started freaking out because (a) he’s our baby, and we’re pathetically protective, and (b) this breed can experience “retinal detachment,” which basically causes the doggie to go...
