This week Dimitri started clapping his hands!  He usually does it when he’s in the high chair waiting for his grub.  He often says his favorite phrase “Da, da, da,” while doing it, but not always. (Note: He’s said “Ma ma,” but it’s a much less frequent occurrence.  He only says it when he’s reeeeally upset, like inconsolable crying because...

"Good morning!"
I’ve mentioned this before, but I really love having a mother-in-law who’s as into self-help and psychology as I am.  She’s always sending me articles and books she likes, and I enjoy whatever she sends. She recently sent me a link to an article on the “Secrets of Close Couples.”  One of the “secrets” was saying good morning to your partner.  Apparently,...

Best buds
Today you stood on one side of the coffee table. You lifted up one hand and banged it, lifted and banged the other one, and then lifted up both hands in unison for brief seconds. You looked over your shoulder at me and grinned, making sure I was watching.  You and your best bud Buckley have devised a game in which you stand on opposite sides of the coffee table and eye the toys you want. You...

Look at the little guy pulling up!  I’m also happy to say that D inspired us to buy a new coffee table yesterday that is very kid friendly.  Now he can pull up without me hovering over him!  (I will probably still hover a little bit, but that’s what mothers do!)

Some light weekend reading My favorite part of the video is when Booth tells Dimitri to put the books back, and D looks like he’s really trying to do it.  Hopefully one day he’ll be as helpful when it comes to putting up his toys.

How I love his little cackle.  It’s really more of a guffaw.  And nothing sets him off faster than those dogs! Yesterday I expressed some concern to Booth that Dimitri may think he’s a dog.  He’s taken to putting things in his mouth, like blankets and spoons, and crawling around the floor like a dog.  Last week he did it in music class with one of the scarves we play with, and...

Happy 8 months to our little D Thad monster.  You are entertaining your father and me with the little monster growl you make when going about your day.  We love you more than we ever imagined, and we hope you always approach life with as much zest as you show when banging your blocks against any hard surface. love, Mom

We went to the gym this morning, and it felt so good to SWEAT.  I could feel some of the holiday debauchery slipping from my pores.  As we were leaving, we ran into a feisty older lady out for her morning walk.  She stopped to visit with us and to tickle Dimitri’s tummy. “He’s such a happy baby,” she said.  “Enjoy him!” We smiled and as we turned to leave, she...

Dimitri, New Year’s Eve, around 10pm “It’s only 2 more hours,” he thought, as he willed himself to stay awake.  But, alas, he could not last any longer.  “I will fight this fight again in the New Year,” he vowed, as he drifted off to sleep.
