Welcome! I'm a Texas lady who recently moved with my husband, son, and our two furry critters to Utah.

This is a place to recount some of our good times and adventures. Largely featuring a lovable little imp we call Dimitri (born May 2010).

Thanks for stopping by!

My Bodhi Tree

19 months

Dear Dimitri,
This month you turned 19 months old.  You are such a little sprite.   Full of motion and energy, never sitting still for more than a minute or two at a time. (There’s so much to do, and see!)

You have taken to making us laugh. When you hear music that appeals to you, you do a little dance where you shake your bum and squat down and stand back up again, in quick succession.   You also have figured out how to turn on our phones, and your daddy has a new game of “calling” you when you’re playing with one of our phones. You get so excited about the incoming phone call that you bounce up and down and run to us so we can supervise you pressing the green “answer” button.

You’re still a social butterfly. The only time we see any shyness is when we first go someplace new, and there’s lots of people wanting to give you attention. You’ll go and hide between our legs for a spell, until you warm up. Then it’s back to the non-stop whir of activity, of course!

You love to help around the house. At least once a day, you’ll go get the dog treats and feed the dogs a treat apiece (or sometimes three). You pick up trash when you see it on the floor and either hand it to me, or run and put it in the garbage can. We have two brooms so you can help me sweep. The vaccuum cleaner still eludes you, however. Last night you threw a fit because it was too heavy for you to push yourself.

Ah yes, the fits. They are slightly more common now. You want to assert your independence, and you get mad when we go on walks and you can’t run ahead of me. You do NOT want to hold my hand while crossing a street, and you can only tolerate being in a shopping cart for 10 minutes, tops. But these are minor growing pains we’re going through, and soon I know you’ll be more accommodating. (Or gosh, I really hope so.)
We are so looking forward to celebrating Christmas with you in a little over a week. We have lots of family coming in town, and it looks like it will be a snowy Christmas. We’re blessed to get to celebrate with everyone, and with you, sweet boy.
